I predict a very good future for these guys they have released a very good selection of singles and have released a vinyl of one of their singles "Replay" which i purchased because i am a fan of Freeda but i do not own a record player so i can't listen to Voodoo the bonus track.
I first saw Freeda just finishing their set at Years End Festival and thought they were okay, as soon as i was familiar with their music i became a fan but also saw that most Saytr Play fans are also Freeda fans.
Then about 9 months after Years End I went to my first Freeda gig as an avid fan, also it was a really good journey for me as it wasn't in the City of Manchester so i didn't have to drive for an hour or get a train, It was actually at the Civic Hall in Uppermill which is genuinely a 20 minute walk from my doorstep.
The gig was actually a little beer festival organised by Donkeystone who are the local brewery.
During the day local Saddleworth artists were playing in the afternoon but i only went for Freeda which was in the evening.
I wasn't actually planning on going to the gig as i was working and said to the band via Instagram that they should come see me at work, but luckily i managed to get out, get changed then leg it to the Civic.
I got there in the nick of time too, as i walked up the road i saw Sean outside with another band member having a chat so then when i introduced myself and shook Sean's hand we both went inside as Freeda were about to go on stage.
The gig was absolutely phenomenal! and I feel a bit bad about nearly not bothering to show up, I had been wanting to see Freeda for a long time but to see them for free and at a venue you can walk to is a real bonus.
At the end of the gig Cameron, who plays guitar said "there you are mate" and he gave me his setlist then i got my picture with him and Sean and got some of the other guys to sign my setlist
I also bought tickets for their gig at The Deaf Institute in November which will be really good fun!
The morning after, Sean messaged me via Facebook asking me to send the photos that i took the night before, the pictures are listed below.
Freeda released their latest single "Wash" on 1 November 2019 which i was really happy about because i first listened to Wash at the Civic Hall gig and thought it was the best out of the set they played.
Freeda, Deaf Institute, 23/11/2019
After a long wait, I finally experienced Freeda's biggest headline gig!! I was genuinely blown away at how talented these lads are it was an absolute blast and had a great opportunity taking some cracking shots. Tickets went on sale back in June and then sold out in the beginning of November
I would most definitely say the gig was entertaining, everyone who was there loved it, They played all of their released songs including new hot single "Wash" and there were limited edition Wash T-Shirts on sale at the merch stand. Their set was very similar to the one they performed at the Civic Hall but except they played Wash earlier, I think and there was more of a vibe with fans there "Wash" was second on the setlist at Deaf institute I think. Freeda were supported by two other amazing bands one who i'd never heard of which was Uno Mas and Twenty Eighth Club who I already knew, both bands were both absolutely incredible to see live before Freeda, It was really funny when Twenty Eighth Club's lead singer joked about Sean being his brother because they both have similar hairstyles.
When the gig came to an end a sweaty Freeda came off stage and went over to the merch stand to have a meet and greet with the fans, I went over and shook their hands and told them how great they were, Bought some merch and that was it. 23/11/2019 is certainly a night to remember as Freeda wanted and i really do hope they get bigger and bigger over the years.
Great read, really well put together Jake! Looking forward to the next episode!
