The Chats are an Aussie shed rock trio hailing from Sunshine Coast, Queensland, made up of Eamon Sandwith (Bass Vocals) Matt Boggis (Drums) and Josh Price (Guitar) The band credit their name from the Australian slang term of "that's chat" which is a saying of something bad.

Iconic for sporting mullets, wraparounds and drinking Victoria Bitter! The Chats are my favourite Australian band, alongside King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Skegss and countless others. They released their debut EP, "Get This In Ya" in July 2017 of which features iconic tracks such as "Smoko" and "Bus Money" and their second EP labelled as "The Chats" was released the year after in 2018 and features "Mum Stole My Darts" and "I'm The Best Person In The World"

On 16/01/2020 The Chats released their third EP, Titled as "The Clap" which contains released singles "Pub Feed", "Identity Theft" and "Do What I want" and a new song called "The Clap" which is a song about having an STI, Now the song itself has a mean beat to it but is also very catchy.
When you listen to it, just make sure you don't sing the chorus out loud in public, you may get a few glares.

The Chats made their sound iconic by frontman, Eamon making the bass sound the most explicit instrument which in most music I've heard is uncommon. It is also the first band I have listened to where the bass player is the fronter. And to make it more iconic, they have described their genre as "Shed Rock" to describe their sound.

A lot of their lyrics are based upon topics such as, living as a youth, being unemployed/not having a lot of money and even just stories.

I was also privileged to blog this performance, even though my blog was set up for upcoming/small bands and The Chats not being in my ideal category for reviewing.

The Chats Live At the Ritz, Manchester

I first saw The Chats live at the O2 Ritz on 10/12/2019 on a school night and I was also introduced into Crocodylus and Bad Dreems who were supporting The Chats. They definitely performed a wild gig! With one of the most violent mosh pits i had ever been in.

The cool thing was, Minutes before they came on stage the album, London Calling by The Clash was playing, Then as they were finishing their last song Eamon threw his bass on the floor, Just like Paul Simonon did!

As they came on stage and the lights began to dim, "We Are The Champions" by Queen was playing when they walked on.

The crowd in particular were going insane for biggest hits such as "Smoko" "Temperature" and "Bus Money" and then as The Chats walked off the crowd chanted "One More Song!" then they walked back on and played my favourite which is "Pub Feed" and it made me really happy that they played it

Also towards the end, Crocodylus and Bad Dreems came on stage and sang with The Chats and two members stage dived into the audience to close the gig and they did indeed create a night to remember.
