Strange Bones: Blitz Part One and Part Two EP Reviews

In April 2020, Blackpudlian four piece punk group, Strange Bones released their second EP, Blitz Pt 2 following up from Blitz Pt 1 which came out in 2019. I discovered Strange Bones in July 2019 and I became a fan of their track from Blitz pt 1 "Give Me The Sun" but a lot of other Strange Bones tracks didn't really appeal to me at that time.

Strange Bones are brothers Bobby, Will and Jack Bentham and their childhood mate Spud. If you want to find out more I have put a video at the top which is one of their interviews from YouTube. Strange Bones are one of the main bands I need to interview in the future like seriously it would be a huge accomplishment to interview them.

So it was just shortly after Blitz pt 2 was released I became more of a Strange Bones fan and from watching fellow journalists interview them they seem a really great band to speak to and to get to know.

Both EP's contain three tracks and Bobby Bentham, the frontman has previously stated that he wants certain tracks to sound different to the others on each EP. This becomes apparent to me in particular on Blitz pt 2.

Blitz Part 1
The first track, titled as Vicious. became my favourite after increasing my fandom. Starts quite slow then when the guitar kicks in we're talking! A very heavy guitar chorus but that's what I love from a punk band.

24 Calibre is next up! This track isn't as in your face as Vicious. is and has an electric drum beat which is heard more explicitly than in any other SB tracks and the guitar isn't as explicit as it is in the other two tracks.

And finally, my all time favourite SB song ends this EP, Give Me The Sun. This song is just for me so energising and so therapeutic at the same time which I know some people would disagree with. But ever since July 2019 when we had that blazing hot summer it's always had the right tempo to put me in the mood to dance, It's an anthem is all I can say! Blitz pt 1 deserves 9/10. Heavy. Inspirational. Meaningful.

Blitz Part 2
We are greeted with track one, Napalm Uber Alles on Blitz pt 2 which has a dubstep inspired chorus and uses quite a lot of electronica which is also seen a lot throughout this whole release and we still hear the old school Strange Bones style sound of heathy rhythms with guitars and drums on top of that but with a twist.

Track two is Underdogs and when I first heard this tune it sounded just like a Prodigy track, not as heavy as the usual Strange Bones tracks but again, I guess this is Bobby's way of making it different to the others.

And last but not least there is Ten Guns which uses the same instruments and electronica styled beats as the other two tracks on the EP is a bit more slowed down than the others. Not hesitating to give this EP a 9/10 too! Purely amazing is all i can say. Art.
